Grilling up the steaks can be daunting but it really isn’t, though I’ve been at it a while. For my money when cooking any steak, make sure it’s at room temperature to begin, then lather it up in some olive oil, sprinkle on some garlic powder, crushed black pepper and salt and then throw it on a flaming hot grill. Flip the steak over a few minutes to let it cook on the other side and then turn the heat down. That’s how I cook my steaks, it’s my secret recipe which really isn’t very secret.

They say grill for 10 minutes for every inch of meat, but that can vary depending on your flame. But I like to char it first on both sides to lock in the juices then let settle over lower heat for about 8-10 minutes longer to get it nice and red on the inside. But that’s me.

If you don’t have a grill – and it’s happened to me where the grill simply doesn’t want to work – you try this out. Pan fry it hot olive oil – watch out though, olive oil and heat doesn’t exactly get along – searing it for a few minutes on both sides, then throwing the pan + steak into the oven on 425 for about 15 minutes, making sure you flip occasionally.

The end result is that it makes you forget your grill was broken!
