Here are the Top 5 risk factors for people who suffer from high blood pressure, and those in danger of high blood pressure:

INACTIVITY
If you’re inactive, obese or eat unhealthy foods, you’re likely to develop high cholesterol. Exercise each day, even if it’s a half-hour walk around the block. Cut out the fried food, and eat five fist-sized meals a day instead of three large ones.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
High cholesterol causes fatty deposits in your arteries, and high bloodpressure increases the pressure on your artery walls, damaging thea rteries. See your doctor about ways to lower your blood pressure.

SMOKING
Cigarette smoking damages the walls of your blood vessels making them likely to accumulate fatty deposits, and lowers your level of HDL (good)cholesterol. Aside from that, smoking is one of the worst things you can do to your body.

DIABETES
High blood sugar contributes to high LDL (bad) cholesterol and low HDL (good) cholesterol, and damages the lining of your arteries. If you have trouble controlling your diabetes, see your doctor for alternative methods.

FAMILY HISTORY
Family history of heart disease, other family members with heart disease before age 55, place you at a greater than average risk of developing heart disease. If heart disease runs in your family, see your doctor about lifestyle techniques to avoid unhealthy habits.
