NBA: Phoenix 85, Boston 77Posted on February 23, 2008 from Staff Reports
Amare Stoudemire scored 28 points and Shaquille O'Neal had 14 rebounds Friday in carrying the Phoenix Suns to a slow-paced, 85-77 win over Boston.
Boston held the Suns' usual racehorse attack in check, but the Celtics lost their third straight.
O'Neal, playing for the second time since being traded to the Suns from Miami, scored only four points. But he dominated the backboards while Steve Nash contributed 18 points and Grant Hill 14.
Phoenix limited Boston to 13 points in the first period and to 30 in the first half.
The Celtics were led by Kevin Garnett with 19 points. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, who along with Garnett make up the bulk of Boston's offensive firepower, combined to score just 19.
